Do home based businesses really work or they are all scams?

By Pavel Becker

Ask this question yourself and you might find answer like: "Yes they are for real, and mine is the best! MakeMillionsWithoutLiftingAFinger.com" or maybe "No, they are all scams, except for this one 30k-A-DayInYourPJs.com." And who do you think is writing those answers?

All of the media attention and overly-aggressive marketing has led Americans to believe that there are just two types of businesses out there, "real" one that require their owners to work hard in order to prosper, and "internet-based" or even "home-based" which require their owners to sit on the couch and make millions for doing nothing at all. There are a lot of scams out there and you have to be careful to avoid all of them.

The successful web-based businesses you run across are going to be ones whose owners understand that their web-based business is still a business and needs to be run like one. There must be customers who want to buy a product or service and there must be enough product or service providers to give them all what they want. Most importantly, there must be a way to put those two things together.

The profit is always created from the event of sale! Period.

Looking for a magic, million dollar deal?

Get real!

You wouldn't expect to buy a new car by just asking the dealer nicely not to sell you a lemon, would you?

Everyone knows there are hundreds of internet scam-artists out there just like they know there's a chance they might buy a lemon from a local dealer. Before you jump into a home-based business, do your research, just like you would when you're looking for a new car.

Yes, Internet based business has some unique features: low cost of manufacturing the product, low cost of delivering the product, potentially very large customer base, ability to delegate nearly a hundred percent of all the aspects of it, ability to set it on autopilot, but it is still a business that you have to run yourself and you need to know how to run it.

Main thing is - it's not the business that makes money, it's the business owner.

How about a restaurant, or a laundromat, a car-wash, a day-care? Are any of them profitable businesses? Or, are they "scams?"

You make your business profitable or you run it into the ground.

I've been through a few brick-and-mortar businesses and they just didn't work for me. Internet marketing does! But there are no free rides and you shouldn't think that you can make a go of it without putting in some hard work on your part.

The decision to jump into business for yourself is all yours but before you make it, be sure that you understand everything that goes into turning a profit and the risks involved. Think you can handle it? Excellent!

Go read Robert Kiyosaki's "Rich Dad Poor Dad" first and see if you are even interested in becoming an entrepreneur.

You can not at the same time be a full time office worker with $35,000 per year and on the side in your spare time make a fortune in a home based business. That's not how it works.

There's nothing inherently wrong or bad about web-based business. If you work hard at it, remain honest (to your customers and yourself) you'll have an excellent chance of succeeding.
