Previously, I wrote that one of the best sources of bigger traffic is by optimizing the right keywords. To achieve this we make use of high trend, low density keywords or what I coined as HITLOD.
I believe that in order to find HITLOD keywords, you do not have to search for them. They will just come to you just like how great artists and inventors suddenly come up with a brilliant idea.
As I go about my day to day experiences, I have discovered a lot of great keywords . For instance, after I watched the movie 21 I searched the internet for the movie's real story. (I normally do this because Hollywood is often fond of taking liberties in expanding the real story to fit the script)
21 the movie is based on the book by Ben Mezrich."Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six MIT Students Who Took Vegas for Millions." For the most part, the book is fictional however the life of the main character in the book is loosely based on the life of Jeffrey Ma one of the member of the MIT Blackjack Team who was a brilliant MIT student.
The MIT blackjack team was composed of students and ex-students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, and other colleges. The team used counting cards techniques to beat the casinos in the game of blackjack.
Their operation was impressive, very organized and run like a real business. It said that they raked in an estimated $3 million to $5 million U.S dollars by simply counting cards in the game of black jack while playing in casinos worldwide.
The "business strategy" of the group was that "Blackjack is a beatable game" and you only have to use simple math in order to beat the game of black jack. This can be achieved by simply counting cards.
After reading several articles on the MIT black jack team, I listened to the interviews of Jeffrey Ma. It suddenly dawned on me that people would start to follow them and start searching for the terms "black jack", "counting cards in blackjack", "counting cards", "how to count cards" or other similar keywords. I tried which keyword combinations is the best and found out about the keyword "counting cards." Even I myself became hooked with "counting cards."
"Counting cards" has only been referred to in 443,000 site as of today. There is spike in the Google trends graph. This could have been caused by the release of the movie in theatres sometime late March 2008.
If you notice, the search for "counting cards" only began in 2008. It can be concluded that interest in the keyword "counting cards" was due to the release of the movie 21.
"Counting cards" may be a good HITLOD keyword. However it's being high trend could only be temporary. After sometime, it is my belief that people will stop searching for the "counting cards" keyword after the movie has reached it's maximum peak popularity.
Nevertheless, "Counting cards" is still a HITLOD keyword for the time being, so strike when the iron is hot ! For as long as the movie is still hot, people will still search for the "counting cards" keyword and if you have properly optimized it, it will perhaps drive hundreds or even thousands of visitors to your site. So blog about "counting cards" today and count the traffic to your site ! (Perhaps later you could also count the money that comes with it)
